The logo is a registered trademark of Native Pathways. The logo tells the story of Dr. Valdez’s father’s journey to the spirit world. Her father, late Robert C. Valdez was Shelly’s true teacher, mentor and guided her through life’s pathways. The lizard in the design is to honor her father’s clan, ‘Muyushrka’. The logo includes designs of mountains, lighting, rain and the hummingbird, all of them present the day he made his journey. There are 10 directions included in the design to represent the 4 cardinal directions, the 4 intermediate directions and the 2 directions that are distinctive to Pueblo culture. It is with honor of her father that Shelly shares this story.
